Had a fault code 2A7C Variable camshaft timing control, intake, cold start as well as obvious metal rattling noise when you start the vehicle in the morning. Usually what happens is that adjuster/intake adjuster/camshaft facer (called many names) gets worn out and rattles when you start the vehicle. To correct the issue we had to replace the intake adjuster. It is critical to use proper timing tools to time the vehicle. Also, really critical to tighten the bolt to a specified torque provided in the manual.
