We would like to share a video on Mercedes-Benz V8 278 Process of Rebuilding Engine. This engine overheated which caused internal engine noise. Once we took engine a part we found one of the cylinder bore was heavily damaged by the piston. It was slapping side of the bore and causing piston slapping noise.

Since this is an aluminum block with a coated cylinders we had to bore out to increase the size of the cylinder opening and insert a sleeve inside of it to keep original size piston. Also, piston rings needed to be replaced due to overheating. Since piston rings are not sold separately piston assemblies were replaced.

Cylinder heads were remanufactured as well with valve job and new lifters. Engine was reassembled, tested and running like a charm.
